Soothing Morning Smoothie
I make various versions of this, depending on the fresh ingredients I have on hand. It has antioxidants, protein and is low calorie. Packed with goodness, it’s a perfect solution to a meal on the go.
This particular version was made with the following:
1 small organic banana
½ cup organic blueberries
½ cup chopped kale (leaves only, no stems)
1 tablespoon greek yogurt
1 teaspoon organic agave
½ cup cold water
Handful of ice cubes
Add ingredients to the blender and mix for 1 to 2 minutes. Serve immediately. Makes one serving.
Other ingredient options:
Fresh fruit – apples are great for fiber, oranges for Vitamin C, any berry for antioxidents (blueberries are a powerhouse)
Chia seeds – fiber
Avocado – makes it creamy (use instead of yogurt). Avocados are high in monosaturated fats which can reduce cholesterol
Almond or rice milk – can be used in place of water.
Leafy greens – any greens can be used here, like chard or spinach. I have even thrown in leaf lettuce!
