Guest Contributor Lisa Jenkins Oltz travels all over for her job in the music business.  Below are a few of her favorite discoveries, both from her travels and from the great city she lives in, St. Louis. We’re so excited that this hip, brilliant woman is sharing with us the things she loves!

1 ) Thaxton Speakeasy – The best kept secret in St. Louis. A beautiful art deco building that has an old timey speakeasy with their own homemade bathtub gin with such yummy flavors as blood orange, cherry, pineapple and more. It can also be rented out for private events.

2) Discovering Options – An organization that I love and give my time and efforts to, Discovering Options “helps at-risk children avoid drug use and other self-destructive behaviors.”  Located in St. Louis, this program has helped over 1000 children and works with on average 100 students per year.  If you live in the area, please consider volunteering, and if not, please consider supporting this very worthwhile program.

3) City Museum – You must see it to believe it. It’s not a typical museum, but a mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel. It’s for adults AND kids!

5) Kakao Chocolate – A St. Louis favorite, this gourmet chocolate company uses all natural ingredients to craft their artisan delights.  There are no artificial additives or flavors in their tempting concoctions, which includes truffles, barks, sea salt caramels, bacon brittle and marshmallow pies. Not that I have tried them all.  Just sayin’…

3) Taste – My favorite cocktail bar in St. Louis. They are insanely creative and the ambience has a cool dark NYC feel.

If you are ever in St. Louis, we hope you will check out these fine recommendations and let us know what you think!  Leave comments for Lisa below and thanks!
