MNU Love List – 2.14

 MNU-ICONS-ENRICH

So you’ve settled into the new year, but you still aren’t feeling organized or motivated.  Here are our favorite websites and apps that make our world go ’round.  These are the things we are loving right now!

Mintcom

Mint.com – Not only is this free, this web-based personal financial management service does all the work of organizing and categorizing your spending for you.  You’ll get graphs (love those), alerts on payments and fees, and a weekly summary of your spending.  You can input everything from your 401k’s to your car loans.  They have a handy mobile app and a very easy-to-use interface.  Check it out here>. It’s time to get real about your money.  Don’t wait, this needs to happen NOW!

retailmenot

RetailMeNot – This site does all the work for you to find the best deals of the day/week/month. They also have a mobile app, so if you are out shopping and think “hmmm, is there a coupon for this?” you can find out immediately.  This is a huge money-saver, if you utilize it correctly. They will also send you daily emails on the deals of the day.  It’s just too good to pass up, people!

dailyworthDailyWorth – If you obsess about money (like me) and can’t talk to Suze Orman as much as you might want to (like me – which is never), then this site and daily email can cover off on most of your needs. A community for women, this is a personal finance resource that breaks it down and makes concepts easily digestible for those always multi-tasking females, both personally and professionally.  It’s been called the “DailyCandy for money,” so check it out and understand your financial worth – daily!

recode

ReCode –  This is the recently launched website from those tech know-it-alls, Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher.  Long known as the foremost expert on new products (Walt) and the best source for up-to-the-minute news (Kara), these two former Wall Street Journal reporters not only cover new media happenings and tech news in the enterprise and consumer spaces, they also still review products and software.  Stay on top of all the shenanigans in the Silicon Valley and satisfy your inner geek by subscribing to their daily update.  Dinner conversation topics are now covered – check!

sunriseSunrise – Ever wondered where the calendar went that we knew and loved in the newest iPhone update? Yeah, us too, so here’s a fine replacement.  It works perfectly with Google and iCloud and connects to Facebook, LinkedIn and Foursquare. You can even integrate directions from Google Maps.  Oh, and just one more little thing, it’s also FREE.  Who doesn’t love that?  Sync your check-ins with your meetings with your mama’s birthday, all with an easy interface and pleasing design. We are huge fans of the weekly and monthly views on the new update for the iPad (the week view is on the iPhone, too). Finally, a way to get back to our former method of instigating a panic attack by seeing everything in the calendar for the upcoming week!

darkskylogo

Dark Sky – This is a full-featured weather app that gives up to the minute forecasts and pretty spectacular weather maps (who needs Sam Champion?).  As in, ten minutes from now it will rain, and then in 20 minutes it will stop. It’s broken down by the hour. That’s a whole lot of awesome-sauce right there. It breaks down not just the forecast but also humidity, wind speed and direction, visibility and air pressure. It will even give you alerts of incoming bad weather, so you can find that umbrella buried in the trunk of your car in time. Consider it your own “personal weather station.” Buy it here> $3.99 on iTunes for the iPhone and iPad.
