HOT TIP: Inflammatory Foods & Depression

Depression has a connection to inflammatory foods. Yep. Really.

Here’s some interesting news from a new study by Harvard School of Public Health researchers.  Following over 43,000 women for 12 years, researchers found that the women with a diet of inflammatory foods such as refined grains, red meat and soft drinks were up to 41 percent more likely to be depressed. These same subjects were also more likely to consume less of anti-inflammatory foods such as leafy green vegetables, healthy oils, and even red wine.  It is important to note that none of these women had been diagnosed with depression or prescribed antidepressants at the beginning of the study.

Good food affects more than your body’s well being; it also affects your mental outlook. Eat more plant-based foods, less meat and have yourself a glass of red wine if you fancy!
