Easy Jalapeño Hummus

Summer is Sizzlin’ Now!

This spicy jalapeño hummus was such a an easy treat to have by the pool last summer, or a perfect appetizer for any occasion. Give it a try, make it as spicy as you like it. It is sure to dazzle!

  • 2 cans chickpeas
  • 1/3 cup tahini paste
  • 4 cloves roughly chopped garlic cloves
  • 2 medium-sized jalapeños (remove ribs, keep seeds for more spice)
  • 1 cup of cilantro chopped
  • Juice of 1 1/2 fresh lemons (add more if you like a brighter taste)
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt or more to taste
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper

Using a food processor, add drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic, jalapeños, cilantro, lemon juice, broth, olive oil, and spices, then pulse. Should the mixture seem too thick for your taste, add a little oil, then broth until you reach the desired consistency. Add more spice and/or salt and lemon juice to taste.

Serve with your favorite veggies, pita chips or naan bread. Enjoy!
